Banana or Apple?

For so long, the apple has reigned supreme over the fruit kingdom that it is considered the queen of all fruits. It has been a symbol of beauty and temptation since the time of Adam and Eve. It's reputation as the ultimate health fruit is not without backing. A regular apple contains Vitamin C that's essential for normal growth and for the repair and maintenance of  bones and body tissues, making it a powerful wound healer even as it boosts the body's immune system. The Vitamin C found in apples is also a major element in the production of collagen, an important protein used in the production of skin, blood vessels, ligaments, tendons and scar tissue. Vitamin C is also a known antioxidant, which helps the body fight toxic chemicals and pollutants. Calorie-conscious folks surely love the apple as it contains an average of only 70 calories. Apple skin also has a soluble fiber called pectin, which helps flush out cholesterol from the body.

On the other hand, worldwide studies claim that the banana is truly the healthier fruit. Bananas contain more minerals, 15% more Vitamin C against 10% of the same nutrient found in apples. It is said that eating two bananas can give a person enough energy for a 90-minute workout. Bananas are efficient in  addressing PMS, anemia, high blood pressure, constipation, hangover, morning sickness, mosquito bites, smoking and strokes. They have high potassium content and low salt ideal to beat high blood pressure. The banana's thick peels also protect the fruit from contamination and pesticides. So should we forget about the apple and go with the banana instead? I think not. Remember the saying, 'An apple a day keeps the doctor away.' So for me, I think I'll both.
